In the Spring of 2009, more then 21,000 people in 20 capital cities and regional centres carried balloons containing tiny lights to: remember loved ones lost to a blood cancer (gold balloon); celebrate the courage of people with, and survivors of, blood cancers (white balloon); and to give hope by showing people affected by blood cancers that their community cares and supports them (blue balloon). Last year, Light the Night raised $1.3million for people affected by leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood disorders.
Light the Night will be back in Spring 2010! For more information, log on to www.lightthenight.org.au. If you would like to host a walk in your local area, call our friendly team on: 1800 500 088 |

The Leukaemia Foundation in partnership with the Cancer Council have developed a program for people newly diagnosed with a blood cancer to be introduced to a person who has been affected by the same condition and is living well post diagnosis. This program called 'Cancer Connect' allows people in the early stage of diagnosis to ask questions to people who have actually lived the experience of being diagnosed and treated for the disease. If you are newly diagnosed, or if you would like to be trained as one of the 'mentors', please contact your local support services team: 1800 620 420. |
