Re:AML New Diagnosis... 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Hi Kay Dee,

I am Leo Tale and I am new to this forum. I had my wife diagonised for Leukaemia (AML) November last year. I flew her to Australia for urgent treatment because there is no treatment available for such rare disease at home.

Its great to hear that you are in remission for three years now. My wife went through two rounds of chemotherapy this year. Her doctor advised us that the cancer cells are still in the bone marrow. I do not know what to do next. The doctor advised that stem cell transplant would be an option but is costly for us and I am lost and I dont know what to as we are not Australian citizens and its costly.

The longer it takes waiting for further treatment, I am afraid I might lose my wife but we are strong and positive. She is only 34 years old and we have 4 children. The eldest turns 12 tomorrow 22/6/2010. Please advice how you were able to find remission and any tips on what we should do next.

Regards,

Leo Tale

Hi Leo,

how is your wife going? I don't have AML but I did have APML 8 years ago.

How old is your youngest child? It is hard on the children and hard on your wife to be away from them. I wish you all the best,
Joyhoney
